Radio - The radio industry employs around 22000
people in the UK.

The first ever radio broadcast was said to have occurred on Christmas eve in 1906 by Reginald Fessenden, however it has never been proven to have happened.



Television - there are about  55,800 employees in the TV industry. the TV was first invented in 1926 by John Logie Baird. TV is now one of the largest industries world wide. TV have changed a lot over the years thanks to many very famous people, such as Charlie Chaplin and Bruce Forsyth. Most people believe that BBC is only popular in the UK but is actually watched all over the world. 



Film - thee film industry employs roughly 44,000 people. The core UK film industry now contributes over £4 billion every year to the UK economy up by 50% since the year 2000, when the UK Film Council was created. The UK film industry earns over £1.3 billion in export income from film rights and film production services.
The UK has more digital cinemas than any other European country (365 and counting).
The UK cinema market has three major UK exhibitors, Cineworld, Odeon UCI, and Vue. In total, they account for over 70% of the total market box office receipts and 60% of screens.




Publishing - The publishing industry employs over 195,000 people in the UK. There are a number of areas you can enter including book publishing, computer game publishing, education publishing, journals and periodical publishing,  mailing list and directory publishing,  newspaper and magazine publishing and software publishing.
The media and publishing sector is going through a change because the technology industry is vastly expanding with things like Ipads, phones, kindles etc. The Publishing industry generates a turnover in the region of £10.1 billion gross value added and is one of the biggest earners and exporters for the UK creative media industries.




Animation -  The animation industry employs over 4.700 people in the UK You will find animated content on television, in feature films, commercials, websites and computer or video games.
The Animation Sector can be roughly divided into four main disciplines: 2D drawn, traditional, 2D computer generated stop frame, and 3D computer generated. Most companies will concentrate on one discipline and but some studios do all four. One feature of the UK industry is that there are distinct and very successful centres of production that are outside of London - in Bristol, Manchester and Cardiff - and, as a result, there are high quality levels of education available in these areas. The most popular program used to create animation is 'FLASH' its not simply limited to animation and its also used for all kind of web designs.


Games - The games industry employs over 7,000 people in the UK and is constantly expanding. The UK is Europe's biggest video game market. It is the third largest in the world according to a 2012 report by Newzoo. The UK game industry made over $5.2 billion of revenues in 2012, having over 33000000 gamers with an average of 11 hours of gaming every week. The organizations who give the games age ratings are 'PEGI' and
the 'British board of film classification'.


 
Interactive Media - The interactive media industry employs around 43 ,000 people, representing 22% of the total creative media industries. It is worth several billion pounds and is constantly rising each year. Interactive media is a fantastic industry and the range of uses expands vastly and the industry only continues to grow every day. Its becoming part of everyday activity across the globe and all sectors of industry in general. The internet is a huge example of interactive media with some extremely popular websites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.



Photo Imaging - The photo imaging industry employs roughly 44,000 people in the UK 51% of these are are from the south of England. The Photo Imaging industry is made up of 8,700 companies which is close to two thirds (68%) of freelance photographers throughout all of the UK. Photo imaging is an industry that will be around










Advertising and marketing - Advertising is the largest sector, ranging from creative agencies to sales departments, is made by about 13,000 companies and employs almost 250,000 people working in advertising is the drive to satisfy the client and its a very important part of the UK economy, as well as a world leader. advertising earns £6.2 billion every year for the UK economy. coca cola is one of the biggest companies for advertising, one of its most well known adverts is the Christmas advert with the lorry crossing the UK.
